Dispatch from Sun reporter Yvonne Wenger:
At least four fire companies worked Monday night to put out a blaze at a building under construction at Chester and East Lanvale streets, East Baltimore. The building was to be a 60-unit housing complex and community center for senior citizens.
The Rev. Donte Hickman of Southern Baptist Church across the street earlier had marched for peace in West Baltimore but was now watching firefighters battle the blaze.
He said he believed the riots in Baltimore was going to call attention to the suffering of so many in the city and force change.
“This fire is going to spark a revival,” he said.
